Prospect

An east-end city of larger lots along the Ohio River.
Prospect sits about fifteen miles northeast of downtown Louisville, an incorporated city along the Ohio River in Jefferson and Oldham counties. The area runs on larger lots than most of metro Louisville, with subdivisions, golf course communities, and river-edge homes spread along U.S. Highway 42 and Wolf Pen Branch Road. The Hunting Creek Country Club and several Ohio River bluff developments anchor the housing market.

What it is like to live here

Prospect reads as suburban and low-density. The streets run wide, the lots run deep, and many neighborhoods sit inside private golf course communities or along the bluff above the Ohio River. Housing varies from substantial brick Colonials and Georgian-style homes on the larger lots to townhomes and patio homes in the newer planned communities. Wolf Pen Branch Road and U.S. Highway 42 run as the main corridors, with smaller commercial pockets along each. The area sits at the northeast edge of Jefferson County, so downtown Louisville is about twenty-five minutes away by car, while east-end shopping along U.S. Highway 42 is much closer. The Ohio River bluff and several public parks give Prospect its distinct character.
