Hurstbourne

An east-end city built around a country club and a major shopping corridor.
Hurstbourne sits about ten miles east of downtown Louisville, an incorporated city in Jefferson County. The area was planned in the late 1960s around the Hurstbourne Country Club, with subdivisions of brick Colonial-style and ranch homes set on curving streets. Hurstbourne Parkway runs north-south through the city as the main commercial corridor, with offices, shopping, and restaurants along most of its length.

What it is like to live here

Hurstbourne reads as a planned east-end city with a clear pattern. Most subdivisions sit on curving streets with cul-de-sacs, and most lots run roughly a third of an acre. Housing leans heavily to brick Colonial-style homes, brick ranches, and two-story Colonials from the 1970s and 1980s, with newer infill in pockets. The Hurstbourne Country Club golf course runs through the middle of the city. Hurstbourne Parkway holds large office buildings, several shopping centers, and a long restaurant strip. Interstate 64 cuts across the northern edge, putting downtown Louisville about fifteen minutes away. Hurstbourne Green Park provides public green space.

What you can do here

  • Walk the curving residential streets and adjacent paths inside the development.

  • Drive to downtown Louisville in about fifteen minutes via Interstate 64.
