Jeffersontown

A southeastern city with a historic Gaslight Square and large business parks.
Jeffersontown sits about ten miles southeast of downtown Louisville, an incorporated city in Jefferson County. The area built up around a small historic core at Taylorsville Road and Watterson Trail, anchored by Gaslight Square, a small public plaza. Surrounding the core, a wide mix of subdivisions and the Bluegrass Industrial Park spread across about thirty square miles. The annual Gaslight Festival, held each September, draws crowds from across the metro.

What it is like to live here

Jeffersontown holds a particularly wide range of housing for a single area. The blocks near Gaslight Square run as the historic core, with smaller frame houses and brick storefronts. Subdivisions from the 1960s through the 2010s spread outward in every direction, with mid-century ranches close to the core and newer two-story Colonials on the southern and eastern edges. The Bluegrass Industrial Park, one of the larger employment centers in the region, sits at the northern end. Taylorsville Road runs as the main east-west corridor, with the Gene Snyder Freeway crossing through the middle of the city. The Parklands of Floyds Fork sits about ten minutes east.
