Oldham County Schools consistently ranks among the top five districts in Kentucky by state testing results. The district covers three high schools (North Oldham, South Oldham, and Oldham County), each with full IB, AP, and dual-credit programs through Jefferson Community and Technical College.
 
The county holds more than 20 working horse farms, including several thoroughbred operations with national pedigrees. Hermitage Farm in Goshen offers public tours and a restaurant. Yew Dell Botanical Gardens in Crestwood covers 60 acres open to visitors year-round.
 
La Grange's historic downtown sits on the CSX rail line, with trains passing through the center of Main Street daily. The district includes independent restaurants, a historic theater, and the Oldham County History Center.
 
Commute times into Louisville run 25 to 35 minutes depending on the address, with I-71 as the primary route. Most of the county sits within a 20-minute drive of the East End office corridor and St. Matthews.
