Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest covers 16,137 acres of protected woodland at the southern end of the county. The forest includes more than 40 miles of hiking trails, the Canopy Tree Walk, and the Forest Giants sculpture installation. Admission is free on weekdays.
 
The Jim Beam American Stillhouse in Clermont sits on the county's eastern edge and offers distillery tours and tastings seven days a week. Four Roses and Maker's Mark distilleries are both within a 30-minute drive.
 
Commuting to Louisville runs 20 to 30 minutes on I-65 from most Bullitt County addresses. The UPS Worldport and Louisville airport are 15 minutes north of Shepherdsville.
 
Bullitt County Public Schools operates the district, with three high schools (Bullitt Central, Bullitt East, and North Bullitt) and dual-credit programs through Jefferson Community and Technical College's Shepherdsville campus.
